Because our pieces are handmade to order, lead times reflect real craft hours — not warehouse stock. Here is exactly what to expect from the moment you order to the moment your piece arrives.
Order processing
Orders are confirmed by email within a few hours. Production begins the next business day. You will receive a second email when your piece leaves the atelier, with a tracking number and a link to follow it in transit.
Lead times (before dispatch)
- Small leather goods (wallets, belts, cardholders): 2–3 weeks
- Larger leather goods (bags, totes, weekenders): 3–4 weeks
- Decor & smaller wooden objects: 1–2 weeks
- Furniture & carved cabinetry: 6–10 weeks
- Custom or commissioned pieces: quoted individually
Shipping methods & rates
- Standard (small parcels): insured express courier (DHL or FedEx). Flat $25 within the US, $45 internationally.
- Free shipping: automatically applied on US orders over $250 and international orders over $500.
- Furniture & oversized pieces: specialized freight, quoted at checkout based on destination. White-glove delivery available in major US and EU cities.
Transit times (after dispatch)
- United States: 3–6 business days (express); 2–4 weeks (freight)
- Canada: 4–7 business days (express)
- Europe & UK: 4–7 business days (express); 3–5 weeks (freight)
- Rest of world: 7–14 business days (express)
Tracking
Every shipment includes a tracking number sent by email when your order leaves the atelier. You can also reply to that email at any time and we will check on its status personally.
Duties, taxes & customs
US orders include all applicable sales tax. International orders may incur import duties and VAT, which are payable on delivery and determined by your local customs authority. These charges are the buyer's responsibility. If you would like an estimate before ordering, write to contact@desertartisan.co.
Lost or delayed shipments
If your tracking has not updated for more than 5 business days, contact us at contact@desertartisan.co or call +1 (505) 539-3576. We open an investigation with the courier and, if the package is confirmed lost, we re-make and re-ship your order at our cost.
Address changes
Address changes are possible until your piece is dispatched. After dispatch, we cannot reroute a shipment, but we will work with the courier to help wherever we can.
